新MacBook Pro登場、Sandy Bridgeプロセッサ・Thunderbolt端子・FaceTime HDカメラ

大方の予測と期待どおり、アップルが新 MacBook Pro ラインナップを発表しました。最新モデルの特徴は13.3インチでデュアルコア Core i5 / i7、15と17インチではクアッドコアCore i7 のインテル第二世代Coreプロセッサを採用し、旧モデル比最大2倍速いこと。またインテルの新接続規格 Thunderbolt (開発名 Light Peak)を採用したこと。さらに内蔵カメラが解像度3倍の FaceTime HDになりフルHDの動画チャットも可能になったこと。13.3インチではインテルのプロセッサ統合グラフィック Intel HD Graphics 3000のみに、15と17ではAMD Radeon HD 6000台を採用し、NVIDIA GPUではなくなったのも注目点。

価格は13.3 インチが10万8800円から、15インチが15万8800円から、17インチが21万4800円から。いずれも現時点で1-2営業日以内出荷のステータスで販売中です。

新たに加わった Thunderbolt は、インテル Light Peak テクノロジを採用した新 I / O 規格 (追記：正確には、コードネーム Light Peak として発表されていた技術の正式なブランドが Thunderbolt。)。双方向に最大10Gbps ( FireWire の最大12倍、USB 2.0の最大20倍) と高速な転送速度でPCIe とダイレクトに接続します。またDisplayPort にも基づいているため、従来のDisplayPort 機器にも、アダプタを介してDVIや音声込みのHDMI にも、USBやFireWire 対応機器も、さらにギガビットLANやFibre Channelにも接続可能です。ポートは従来のミニDisplayPortと共用。たとえば高速なストレージを複数とディスプレイのように、周辺機器を6台まで接続可能。

Thunderbolt とおなじく全機種に搭載されたFaceTime HDカメラは、解像度が従来の3倍に増加。あわせて、iPhone 4 や iPod touch のFaceTimeとも直接接続できるFaceTimeアプリも正式版となり、Mac App Storeで115円で販売されています。

Apple Updates MacBook Pro with Next Generation Processors, Graphics & Thunderbolt I/O Technology

CUPERTINO, California-February 24, 2011-Apple(R) today updated the industry-leading MacBook(R) Pro family with next generation processors and graphics, high-speed Thunderbolt I/O technology and a new FaceTime(R) HD camera. Featuring the very latest dual-core and quad-core Intel Core processors, the entire MacBook Pro line is up to twice as fast as the previous generation.*

The 13-inch MacBook Pro is available in two configurations: one with a 2.3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 and 320GB hard drive starting at $1,199; and one with a 2.7 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 and 500GB hard drive starting at $1,499. The new 15-inch MacBook Pro is available in two models: one with a 2.0 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6490M and 500GB hard drive starting at $1,799 and one with a 2.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6750M and 750GB hard drive starting at $2,199. デジタルメモ「ポメラ」にガンダムコラボ 3モデル、ガンダム語辞書を搭載

テキスト入力に特化した単機能「デジタルメモ」製品ポメラにガンダムコラボモデルが登場します。ポメラ DM11Gはキャラクターコラボ製品でありがちな外装デザインのアレンジのほか、起動時・終了時にテレビシリーズ各話のタイトルや「名場面」などが表示される、さらに800語分のガンダム用語変換辞書が内蔵されるなどソフトウェアもカスタマイズした製品。

ハードウェアとしては初代とおなじ4インチ画面を採用しつつ、1ファイルの文字数が全角 2万8000字 (初代は8000字)、microSDHCにも対応など、プレミアムモデルDM20に準じた強化が施されています。重さ約350gで開けば小型ノート並みのフルキーボード、辞書はATOK、単4電池 x2本で20時間駆動といったポメラの特徴はすべて継承。

ガンダムコラボとして用意されるのは赤い「シャア・アズナブル」、青い「ランバ・ラル」、緑と黒の「ジオン軍」の3モデル。ポメラにはもともと質感の違う着せ替え天板が用意されていますが、ガンダムモデルの天板も単なる色変えやプリントだけでなく、なにやら装甲板を思わせる立体造形に紋章など ~~これはひどい~~ すばらしいことになっています。デザインの詳細は下のギャラリーを参照。また専用のキャリングケースも各モデルごとのデザイン違いが付属します。ポメラDM11Gは12月10日より、各3万9900円で販売予定。
